Konstantin Shamray

Konstantin was born in Novosibirsk and began studies in the Kemerovo Music School and from 1996 continued his studies in Moscow at the Gnessin Special Music School and in 2003 at the Russian Gnessin Academy of Music with Tatiana Zelikman. He has been the recipient of several Foundation awards.

He has performed in many concert halls in Moscow and many other cities in Russia and also in Italy, Spain, Germany, Holland, Austria, Czech Republic and USA. His solo recitals have many different programs and he has performed with international orchestras including the Prague and Moscow Philharmonic Orchestras, Marinsky. Jena Orchestra and Sydney Symphony. He has recorded CDs in Holland and the Czech Republic.

He has received Prizes in Competitions in Russia, Czech Republic and Italy.
Immediately after he received the 1st Prize and 8 Special Prizes in the 2008 Sydney International Piano Competition he undertook a Concert Tour of 27 Concerts in all States of Australia. The tour was a great success and he received critical acclaim. In December 2008 he had great success in Recitals in Spain.

In 2009 he performed in Siberia which included Concerto No.1 by Rachmaninov and 10 Recitals (February). He also undertook a Tour of 14 concerts with the Australian String Quartet in Australian Capital cities and in regional South Australia (May). There were also Recitals in Adelaide, Melbourne, Geelong and Sydney. Shortly after this Tour he gave a Recital in June for the Ruhr Festival in Dusseldorf with critical acclaim.

In September 2009 he performed with the Jena Orchestra, and in the Bochum Festival in Germany. In October in Belgrade he performed Concerto No.3 by Rachmaninov.

He continues to give recitals and concerto performances in many parts of Russia, including with the Marinsky Orchestra in St .Petersburg. In December 2009 he recorded for Naxos the last set of 18 Piano works (Op 72) by Tchaikovsky.

In January 2010 he performed with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and in March, April, May and June 2010 he will have a major Tour of 45 concerts in Australia performing with 7 different Orchestras and giving more than 30 Solo Recitals with several different programs. He will also make a CD for ABC Classics of works by Scriabin, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev. On his way to Australia in 2010 he will give a Recital in Singapore.
